Wings over the Dells

Went down to the Wings over the Dells airshow in Baraboo/WI Dells this weekend. It was a pretty neat show. They didn't have many static aircraft but the airshow itself was pretty good. Just took a few shots as I only had my crappy point and shoot with me. Enjoy!

Has the repro "Memphis Belle" recently had its nose art repainted? I know that the nose art on the European version is the "movie-ized" version. Has Tallichet's version always had the more accurate nose art?

No it did not. I redid it in the late 90's and at that time they still wanted the movie style nose art on it, with the big fancy letters.

Whose bent-wing number 11? Nice pix. Tell me some more about the WOD airshow. I'm in Texas but my wife is from Lafayette ,county Wis. I've heard about the Dells for years but never have made it there.

The corsair is registered to MTW Aviation Inc Trustee in Wilmington, DE. I can't tell you much about the show, as it was my first time attending. More vendors than anything else, but a cool little show and the actual airshow portion was really good.

I agree..the vendors are starting to cheapen these shows..we need those who sell more expensive items..tends to keep the "riffraff" at bay{ wink}

The blue bipe is, I'm quite sure, an early-30s Travel Air...but I haven't a clue which model. Lovely thing, at any rate.

The F4U-4 appears to be the Vintage Wings of Canada example, which was a very, very welcome guest (flown in by VWoC founder/owner Mike Potter) at the CWH FlyFest last month. A Corsair in the CWH hangar again was a sight for sore eyes. Nice pic...

I got to see "The Belle" at Felts Field a few years ago and to me it looked like a warbird should, chipped paint, oil stains, etc. And now it looks even better with the "F" nose.

I didn't know anything about the show, but it sure was cool to see Memphis Belle on the final approach from the interstate on my way to Minnesota!

It is an 1929 Curtis Wright Travelair E-4000.
Clay is a heck of a pilot and a super nice guy.

From what I've seen...as long as there is a charge to get into a particualr airshow it tends to keep out the "riff-raff" (most of the time :roll:

). The free airshows open to the public tend to draw the "idiots" which cause problems.

Thanks for the link; that looks pretty cool. I'm in Texas but my in-laws live in the SW corner of Wisconsin and I'm searching aviation interest things to do for the next time I'm up there.
