What is known about this DC-3 / C-47 at Fredericksburg, TX?

Looks like it needs some love.

Zane,
Its N8021Z, the former 43-15978. I'm sure someone else can fill in some historical details.

Freight dog from the Valley. Lots of Mexico trips. It flew in on borrowed engines to be an attraction for the nearby Hangar Hotel. Its' sister ship is in Hondo getting painted and will soon be a flyer. Come out to Fredricksburg this weekend and take a look at it. I can arrange to open it up for wixers.

Thanks for the info!

We were across the field at a quinceanera in the park last weekend...

Sorry I didn't have time to get over and look up close.
