The Ju was being towed a short distance by tractor through a grassy area. The tug temporarily lurched, breaking the tail wheel assembly.

It did not happen on landing!

One tow op might be a bit unemployed now, I reckon.

Uhh, dude? I think I broke your Junkers.'

My mistake Bob. I thought I heard that it broke upon arrival. Hope they get it fixed and flying.

Thanks Jase, good to know the 'ol girl's still flying. :D

Hey ebramhall,
We probably crossed paths! I was working the PX with the MO CAF. "Show Me" is getting some jugs replaced on the left engine. Wish she could have been there. She'd have been a hit. Here's a couple of pics I took.......................John

Some what related:

When I was at FoF last week i was able to spot Kermit's Junkers in the back of one of the storage bays, with no wings, sitting next to his B-23. She didnt look to bad though.

I hope the Ju-52 is fixed soon. Its a shame to see such a beautiful bird with a busted A$$! She looked great at Thunder last year!

Thanks for the compliment Eric. I'm going to try and make the Michigan show. I was talking to one of the Great Lakes guys, he said they were going to try and have the tailwheel yoke welded. Sure hope that works for them..........John

Please allow to correct you a little:
Three original Dessau build Ju 52 are delivered to the Swiss Air Force in 1939 as A-701, A-702 and A-703 and based at the Duebendorf airfield. They where phased out by the Air Force in 1982 and 1985 and got the civil registrations HB-HOS, HB-HOT and HB-HOP. Today they are still flying, hopefully well into the future. And they are still based at Duebendorf. So, not only these three original Junkers flew now for nearly 70 years, but most impressive they flew all this years out of the same home base.

I get a formation of all these together with D-AQUI and an CASA 352 on video for you to view here:

I uploaded the rest of my photos. Trying out the new zoom camera. Lots of pictures of The Thunderbirds routine.

Nice shots, one tip however, shutter speed should be no higher than 1/250 for prop airplanes. Frozen props makes them look like they are going to fall out of the sky.

Thanks for the tip Tim. It was my first outing with the new lens and shooting aerials. I thought I might need to step back my shutter a bit.

A little update--
I drove past Davenport Mun. on my way back from Thunder and the JU was still sitting on the airport grounds. Hope they get it fixed and back into the air soon.
