Warbird Information Exchange

Anyone have any shots of the 15,000 P-40? I have only seen the familiar shot of the a/c from the front lower 1/4 view in flight. (It is covered in all the different national insignia's of the countries that flew it)

I see Hasagawa has released this bird in kit form. I plan to pick it up. It has always been a favorite of mine, but I have never seen any other shots of it.

I've seen a photo of the pilot standing beside the bird on the ground..I think it may have been on the cover of an old issue of Wings or Airpower.

A little Googling turned up this shot...

I only have one original photo, and that's the one of which you speak. I have it posted on flickr HERE.

I do however have many other shots of this Hawk in various books and rags, including the one posted by Steve, which is from a scan I made from the cover of an old ish of Famous Airplanes of the World.

I'll see if I can dig through the library and fire up the scanner in the next day or three.

Oh, and the decals in that kit are gorgeous... well-printed and of aftermarket quality. They're not the usual Hasegagme junk...

Capt Ken Taylor with #15000 at the Curtiss plant after returning from Guadalcanal. He flew the a/c while at the plant.
Now, I really don't have to explain who he is do T??

I plan to order the Hasegawa kit. I love this scheme...

Infact I blame this plane for my unhealthy fascination with P-40's. Growing up my family had a series of children's encyclopedias, and one of the images on the covers of each was a picture of this P-40.

Jack, that is a very cool shot of Ken Taylor. I hope to build a model of his Pearl Harbor plane one day too...

Yes, a very clear ground shot with a Curtiss test pilot was on the cover of Wings or Airpower in 1979 (?).

I just saw it a couple months ago while moving some of my books around.
