From what I understand, TFC sold the aircraft on because Stephen Grey, the owner, would never have been able to fly it due to certain limitations on his pilot's license. TFC have been slowly shedding aircraft which the boss wasn't able to fly, such as the B-25 and Tigercat.
With regards to expense... I doubt that this would be an issue if you could afford the asking price for the aircraft. The only difficulty with this particular project is that the late-mark engines that come with the project don't fit the Beau's engine mounts, so some significant re-engineering will be involved. Still, these sorts of problems have been overcome on other projects so I see little real reason why they can't be solved for the beaufighter. Can't wait to see her in the air!

I heard that as well and was told that's one of the reasons TFC didn't buy the P38 that was at Chino a couple of years back. (It's Ron Fagen's now).

Would loooove to see that Beau project come to Canada, be re-engineered to take the late mark Hercs (or maybe a pair of Merlins??)...and for the spare earlier Hercs to move to CAvM to help complete the longsuffering RD867...

Well... it's not such an unrealistic dream, considering what's been happening in Gatineau these past couple of years... not a bad dream either Steve!

Re-build to fly - this is what TFC have been doing (and are continuing to do to this day) for over ten years

Temora gets results betters

That's a pretty unfair statement. A great many of the significant aircraft at Temora were bought and brought there in flying condition already - whilst TFC has rebuilt many aircraft and put them back in the air over the years and continues to do so. One of TFC's "results" is Spitfire TB863 now flying at Temora, rebuilt by them in the 1980's.

Thats a very silly statement - smilie or not.

Do Temora do any of their own restorations? As far as I know, all of their aircraft have been purchased in flying condition, after someone else has done the restoration.
As Mark V says, a very silly statement.

Sabredriver...WHOAA...that bit of attempted humor (if it was humor) went over like the proverbial T_ _ D in the punchbowl.
Maybe a little less proprietary in the future.

Richard--
Yeah...I resisted the temptation to put "coughGatineaucough" after "Canada" in my post!

However, much as TFC have opted to concentrate on single-engined types, Mr Potter has done that from the outset; I don't see the Beau (or a Mossie, Ventura or Havoc) joining that fleet. Still, as you say, it's not a bad dream...
Cheers
