Glad to see another Huri about ready to take to the air. For our UK residents, who is the owner of this almost airworthy Mk 1 and what is the target date for flying????? The next question is, in the background of the pics for this Huri, is another Huri which appears quite advanced in the rebuilding phase.... so, the question is once again, who owns, which Huri is this, and target date for being ready!!!! I know this sounds like a lot of requests, but I know our UK brothern are up for the task! TIA, Alan

The Mark 1 is G-HUPW and is registered to Peter and Polly Vacher in the UK. Not sure how long there is to go but I do know that the aircraft will be totally stock when finished.

So stock in fact that it will be running the same Merlin III that was fitted when it last saw service.

G-HUPW was advertised for sale recently on Hawker's website? The add was recently removed though. Has it sold?

I notice that Peter Vacher is the husband of aviatrix Polly, who recently completed a brilliant fund raising flight for charity. I wonder if the sale is to avoid having to decide who gets to fly the family Hurricane?
Just joking, of course!

Maybe I missunderstood you Gregory. The link you provided does not work for me either. I thought you were trying to find their website

G-HUPW was NOT advertised for sale on the Hawker Restorations website, the aircraft which was advertised was a different Mk1 which consisted of a rebuilt fuselage and centre section together with a zero houred Merlin 35. As I understand it the owner of that machine has now elected to carry on with the rebuild. G-HUPW is far more advanced than the other project and all being well may well fly this summer.

Al
Thanks for trying the link. I check the Hawker Restorations site about once every 10 days or so to follow their exciting projects, but the G-HURY page has never worked. Not that it makes a great difference, because there are plenty of photos of it now at Duxford, but I really do enjoy looking at all the things that are hidden away once machines take to the air.
