This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I found this T-33 on the side of the road near Bowie, Texas on US Hwy. 287
There were several T-33 fuselages and a couple of wings. A few H-53 helicopters as well.
Any ideas on the ID of this one?
Thanks

I would suggest that the next time you are near there, that you stop by and see if anyone will talk to you about the aircraft. They might be more than willing to sit a spell and talk to you about their collection. Seems there might be more Walter Soplatas out there than we realize.
And if you do go, remmeber to take your camera with you

Shay,
Unfortunately there was no one there at the time. I travel past there only a few times a year, hopefully there will be someone around the next time through.
It's hard to tell anything from outside the fence...with no tails for tail numbers...
Thanks

Zane,
This 'collection' has been there for a few years now. There are three T-33s, so I am not sure which is the one in your photo. They are:
(53-5346) Lockheed T-33A fuselage, no tail (noted May02-May06)
(57-0643) Lockheed T-33A ADWC, fuselage, no tail (Oct99-May06)
(58-0497) Lockheed T-33A dismantled (noted May02-May06)
53-5346 will be restored using parts from the other two. That said, visitors in May06 identified this machine from its c/n plate as 52-9658!
The H-3 in the photo is GCH-3E 64-14228.

Shay,
I have been there myself and talked to the folks. I also regularly receive updates from around the USA which will be included in the 4th edition of my 'USA Military Out of Service' book, which is due for publication around May next year.

Ahh I see.
Then perhaps you might be able to help identify another aircraft in Texas. This one is a F-8 Cursader spotted north of Boerne TX. Here is a link to the original thread with pictures.

The F-8 is just down the road a piece from me in Waring, Tx. I will see if I can get the Bu# for you all. The owner is a friend of mine and I will see if he doesn't mind the notriety of having people maybe nosing around.
