Ulimited racer build 1996?

I ran across these pictures in my inherited stuff.
The caption says "Unlimited Racer under construction...Denton, TX - 1996"

Any ideas on what airplane this is?

Thats the rebuilding of MR AWSOME. Built in VAN NUYS in the late 80's for JOE KASPERHOFF(not sure on that spelling) Its a YAK-11 that has had a WRIGHT turbo-compound 3350 put up front. It raced one year then had a T-33 tail put on it. It was sold to Darryl Greenamyerand crashed at reno by NEIL ANDERSON who just recently passed away. Sold again, rebuild began in TEXAS and sold yet again to the current owner JACK FROST. I dont believe it has flown since its accident in reno. But it has been under the radar for quite some time now. maybe someone else knows more

It's still at Jack's place in Marianna, AR. Hasn't been worked on in a while.
