Updates on Pat Harker's P-82 Twin Mustang

Wed Sep 06, 2006 11:29 pm

I was able to view Pat's Mustang project last September, and it will be Im sure a superb restoration of what I personally feel will be the ultimate Mustang. Does anyone know or has anyone seen this project recently as to how it is coming along? Thanks in advance to those who might have some updated information which their willing to share.

Hmmm,

This thread brings up a rather interesting question. I was wondering how many P-82 Twin Mustangs are still around ? I looked at the Warbird registry and saw something like 5 of them. Now, I know that there is one being restored with an eye towards flight, I was not aware of this particular airframe of Pat Harker's, but I think that there is one up in Alaska also that is being done. I forget who owns it, but as I recall it was recovered from a scrap yard when the owner went looking for P-51 parts when he stumbled upon the Twin Mustang. Is there any infor on this one as well or is Mr. Harker's Twin Mustang the same one I was told about from Alaska ?

I ask all this in respect because at one time I was corresponding via e-mail with the gentleman in Alaska who found the one in the scrap yard.

Respectfully,

Paul

Hi Pats P-82 project is the ex Walter Z. a/c,Pat also bought the Alaska stuff which was remains of about 7 P-82s that were ran over by a bulldozer  all large sections of aluminum such as wings fusalges ect. were smelted,so not any sort of complete a/c was left. The P-82 is looking very nice both fusalages are reskined one is almost totally complete with all internals installed :D .The other side is now getting the total treatment. The outer wing panels were completed before pat bought the project from Wally Fisk. The center section will be next in line, horizonal has been completed,Engines and props are done and waiting. Thanks Mike
