Stavrakakis Going "Hollywod"
ICAS Member and veteran Airshow Pilot and Narrator, Steve "Wild Thing" Stavrakakis has been called upon to take his knowledge and expertise to TV sets worldwide and the Silver Screen. Selected from 200 applicants, Stavrakakis recently won a screen test (beating out four other prospective narrators) to join FOX Sports TV, in Hollywood, as co-host of the exciting Red Bull Championship Air Races. Steve has already finished production on several of the 5 races that have taken place and the hour-long episodes have begun airing on the Fox Sports Network each Saturday (check your local listings). In addition to his TV debut, Stavrakakis was chosen to play himself in the upcoming big screen film, "Thunder over Reno". Billed as 'the world's fastest love story', TOR is set to hit movie theaters in the summer of 2007. Film crews have been compiling dramatic race footage at June's Pylon School. The June footage included Stavrakakis hosting a Parade of Race Planes under the famous Reno arch on historic Virginia Street . Filming of race and pit scenes will continue this September at the National Championship Reno Air Races.
