This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

According to the Aero Series Book on the P-12/F4B Brazil bought the following :
14 ea F4B-4 from original Navy order
9 ea F4B-3 These had the F4B-3 fuselage and P-12E wings. They were considered a light export model
Have any of these ever surfaced ? Did Brazil save any of them or did they just disappear?

I dunno Rick, but you might run it past LAAHS to see what they come up
with. Or you might have Tulio pose a query for you. To summon Tulio just
type Cartagena, Columbia...he usually shows up pretty quickly.

It's
kind of a "Calling Dr. Bombay" thang...
Some period photos to peruse of Brazilian Boeing model 256(C1B internally?)
You might pose the question to this websites owner?
In service with Brazil Army photos...

Rick:
No data that I have, shows any FB-4s surviving in Brazil.
Same goes for the P-36s, Vultee Vengeances, P-40s. There is a Fw-58 at the Campo Dos Afonsos museum, as well as several, nice and very well preserved biplanes; there are of course, P-47s, PT-19s and even a Douglas A-20.
Saludos,
Tulio

Not to belabor the point, Tulio, but does that mean that there is hard information that they were destroyed ?

I have received an answer to the question, at the LAAHS forum.
Helio Higuchi from Brazil, simply states that there are no survivors. Whether they were burnt, smashed, buried or scrapped, I do not know.
Wouldn't it be great if tucked in some corner of a military base, there was an F4B? : )

Tulio
