Bolingbroke technical notes

Hi, Does anybody know if pilots notes and/or A.P. Technical notes were ever produced for the Bolingbroke IV and if copies can be obtained.

Great forum

Hi Steve--

Pilot's Notes for the Boly would probably have been simply the Air Ministry Blenheim IV publication, maybe not even retitled, as the two types were fundamentally the same. Reprints of that booklet should still be easy enough to obtain.

For technical stuff, I'd suggest approaching one of the collections with a restored (or in-progress) Boly. An example would be CWH's project; Wayne Ready from the Boly crew has been on WIX before (iirc), and I'm quite sure I heard they had acquired some manual info. Other likely sources would be BCAM (Dave Maude, formerly of BCAM, has also been on WIX and he and his dad George owned two Bolies now in museums); CAvM in Ottawa; the CATP Museum at Brandon MB; and the Nanton Lancaster Society museum in Nanton AB (WIXer Peter Whitfield is involved with their Lanc project on a part time basis). There's also ARCO in the UK and the Bristol collection in Tennessee.

CAvM, CWH and (especially) Nanton have fine websites with contact info. (Some of the others probably do too).

Good hunting!

Hey Steve's;

Midland Counties in England sell the reproduction Blenheim IV pilots notes. However, there were a few cockpit differences between the Blenheim and the Bolingbroke.

The CAvM in Ottawa / National Museum of Science and Technology had a copy of the Bolingbroke Pilots notes in the 1980's. I tried repeatedly to obtain a copy without success - perhaps someone in the Ottawa area with contacts may be able to dig this up. I did see the hard copy in person, so I know it did exist.

I do have a copy of the maitenance manual for the Bolingbroke IV, I can copy relevent sections if interested.

Dave
