FG-1D Corsair - N83JC Sold

Tue Jan 14, 2025 12:49 pm

Haven't heard any info on where "Godspeed / Skyboss" Bu. Num. 67089 Reg: N83JC was sold to and where she is headed to next.

She was based at Clyman's AAM in Farmingdale, NY for decades and became the "local Corsair" for us here in Stratford when we had events over the years. I believe the last time she visited (actually the last Corsair to fly into Stratford) was over 14 years ago in 2011!

While I didn't mind the "Godspeed" markings, I did prefer the Yosemite Sam on the side. Even if it wasn't a very accurate scheme. I would like to see Glenn's markings on a more appropriate F4U-4 eventually.
And call me crazy, but I think that in this original picture, the hub was yellow and the spinner was red.

I enjoyed the "Skyboss" scheme too. As you said it was nice having a "local" Corsair. It was a regular at WWII Weekend.

I had a local (Ardmore NZ) Mustang, Spitfire, P-40 and C-47 (plus Catalina) 18 months ago. Not any more :-(
