Watch live as the Hawaii Martin Mars water bomber makes its final flight from Port Alberni to the B.C. Aviation Museum in North Saanich, escorted by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds.
Flew on one of the other Mars in Jan 1951 from Alameda to Hawaii on my way to Korea. Quite a ride Flew so slow that we could throw the breakfast boxes out of one designated window. Long flight.
Makes you think - once these two Mars have landed for the last time, wouldn't that leave NASA's WB-57 and Planes of Fame's 4-0-4 as the last flying Martin aircraft? Don't think there's much chance of a B-26 Marauder flying again anytime soon.
