I heard about the one at Pima but those are the first good photos I've seen of it. I think it's a match with the one on N9957F except the paint was not stripped. So, most likely from one of the other P-38s. If you don't mind, I'd like to add one to the page.

I've often wondered what happens to all the postwar modifications that are removed from warbirds when they're restored back to wartime configuration. For example, the Cinerama Camera noses, the pointed nose and interior fittings on Patriot's Point's B-25, or the firefighting tanks on C-54s.

The firefighting tanks on Aero Union’s C-54’s ended up on Buffalo’s Electras. Upped to 3000 gallons on the Electra, those eight-door tanks work very well. I flew them for about six summers.
