Bolivian B-17s

Sat May 18, 2024 12:25 am

I just posted the history of the eight USAF B-17Gs that went to Bolivia in 1956 as part of a CAA foreign assistance program on my aerovintage site. These B-17s became CP-620 through CP-627. Gordon Hamilton prepared the aircraft at Tucson, AZ. Also part of that deal were seven USAF B-17Gs disassembled by Hamilton to provide parts support for the eight. These were issued U.S. civil registrations from N7040C through N7046C. None of them were ever flown. All were scrapped and gone by 1959.

Scott,
Thanks for the interesting article.
There is one small typo I believe - N7046C 44-83527 should read 44-83587.

John Bagley was one of the pilots down there, he was also in Catch 22.
