Even fewer here. My comments are from memory, which has been known to fail. Think we'll ever see 3 B-17's together again?





I remember H&P bringing a C-82 from Greybull one year, but I thought that one had the rooftop jet pod. Not sure about this one:

Pretty sure this was the first time I even heard of a T8F:



Last of my slides - i have 1974 - 80 plus Mundalein, CAF Harlingen, Dupage County Airshow; all have been posted to some degree, but probably 60% are still 'undiscovered'. They take up quite a bit of space. Should I send them off to Challenge Publications or do you folks think there's a market? Lots of Vintage/Classic planes in there too.

Sadly - a flying C-82 is something I will probably never see. Great shots from a time gone by!

TWA had one based in Paris before my time that ferried JT-3Ds around Europe for sick 707s. Seen a few C-119s around but never flying. First one was an ex-Belgian AF example registered in Swaziland or somewhere and was parked at Manston Airport in 1982. Likely scrapped there, can't recall now. Another one pitched up at North Weald, also ended up scrapped sadly.

I'm not calling anyone's baby ugly or criticising anyone, but...
That Mustang scheme hi twith invasion stripes and postwar markings is interesting.

And garbs, yes, all nose gear Bf-108 variants were Nords.

There was a 108/Nord at the CAF airfield in Abilene Texas about 20 years ago. It's owner died and last time I saw it, it was heading west on a trailer.
Wonder where it is now?
Can't be that many out there.

C-82 or C-119? The one pictured above is a -119. How do I know? Because I looked up pictures of both. The -119's cockpit is C-130'esque - right up towards the nose. The -'82's is B-24'esque. Situated farther aft.

Just looking at the pics again, the Luscombe T8F is a new type to me, unmistakably a Luscombe though!

There were C-82s with jet pods. They were used as freighters, not firefighters. As previously noted, TWA had one.
They were modified by Stewart-Warner at Long Beach.
There were many of them rusting on the ramp back in the '60s, that's where they got the planes for the original
Flight of the Phoenix film.

Sadly, they were pretty much gone by the advent of the modern warbird movement. And they were a bit too early or underpowered (or both) to be used as fire bombers.

But aside from general configuration, they really don't look much like a C-119.

The ex-Pan Am Packet now resides in the Hagerstown Aviation Museum, where it can easily be compared with one of its younger siblings:
