"Not sure whose Sea Fury this was:"
Looks like VZ350/N20SF#1 which was owned by John Stokes - crashed fatally later that year at Waukegan with Robert Friedman, wreck went to Frank Sanders. N20SF#2 is VZ368, now Dreadnaught, adopted ID of VZ350.
Great pics by the way!

Ahhh Memory lane. IIRC that H-21 was owned by HI LIFT. It was based was based at Rainbow airport in Oak creek WI. Waaay back in the mid 70's at the far east end of the property was a double wide which served as their office. I think they had 2 or 3 H21's with one flying. Garbs will remember the SHOPKO store on Washington ave in Racine WI. I lived just north of there. One sunny day I heard the sound of a radial engine droning but it sounded stationary. I walked towards the sound and an H-21 was hovering with an air conditioning unit sling loaded underneath. I watched the show for about 20 minutes until they finished. Pretty sure it was the one pictured, but it was before i discovered N numbers so I can't be sure. I can confirm that Garbs has about a million shots that he needs to post from the 70's up to the present. Keep em coming buddy.

Cool to see a photo of Chub Smith's N9885C in its final scheme prior to the accident. Not that many out there.

New picture of 5445V that I have never seen before.
Thanks for posting.
Assuming Mark Clark flew it there from Rockford.
I let Mark fly Worry Bird, now 951M In May of 2016, I think it was 38 years since he first flew a Mustang and it was in this same one.
Pretty sure it was the last time he flew one.
I was at Oshkosh in 1978, if I knew where my pictures were I would look up and see if I could find out if I took a picture of what would eventually be my airplane.

I was just a kid taking pictures. Unfortunately I didn’t see the need to capture N-numbers at the time. Thanks to all of you pros for filling in the blanks. I have slides scanned in for 1979 and 1980 which I will post soon. After that it’s all prints or negatives.
