P-80 and F-14 on the move...

EAA announced that their P-80 has been removed from the pole in front of the Museum and will be restored and then placed on display in the Eagle Hangar-

The Cradle of Aviation now has the F-14D Felix 101 on display out front of the museum. It was formerly at Farmingdale.

EAA closes the Eagle Hangar to the public every summer when I go to Oshkosh, so I'll never see it again. Glad it's being restored.

Original marking options are limited: everyone wants a Korean War veteran but in this case it's not so. However I am a strong advocate of "they also served", and so for me any color scheme is appropriate in recognizing service. In fact it could be argued that the less obvious areas of USAF/ANG/AFRES operations need to be commemorated more than those which are well-known.

Hopefully this aircraft will in any case get a decent restoration and the care it deserves.

I am working on a scheme that will honor two men who flew the P-80, were in the same squadron, have an inspirational story together, and were life long EAA members. She will spend her days after restoration in the museum.
