WWII Weekend at Reading Pa.

I plan to attend on Sunday. It is my favorite show. Nothing like seeing real live warbirds up close and in that WW2 themed environment.

Will be arriving to the show grounds tomorrow around noon and will be there Saturday and Sunday as well. This will be my first visit to Reading and I'm really looking forward to it! Hope the rain stays away.

Great start to the weekend! Arrived to the grounds around noon and made it back to the parking lot around 7 p.m. Some late arrivals this evening, including the MAM Wildcat and Tom Duffy's B-25 and P-51 - a nice surprise to see the Mustang! There was a rain shower with some wind that kept the show down for about an hour during the airshow slot. Round Canopy had to scrub their jump due to the high winds. The rain at least cooled things down for a bit. Otherwise, a good afternoon with plenty of action. Really enjoyed the P-63, P-51 and Corsair aerobatics, and the P-61 restoration is impressive.

"Diamond Lil" hasn't made it yet and there are a few others that are missing. I don't think the CAF TBM is going to make it. Not sure about "Spirit of Freedom."

Yep, Wildcat came in right after the show. It was parked across from Briefing Time when I left. Nice surprise!

It will probably be a few days before I can get any on Flickr. I'll make sure to post a bunch here when I can.

I heard from multiple people sitting around me that this is a "down" year aircraft wise for Reading. If it is, I can't tell because I'm having a great time. This is an awesome show!

I was able to attend today and had a great time as usual. In my opinion the event seems to be going strong. Good crowds already by the time I got there at 9:15.

If I didn't know which aircraft weren't there I wouldn't have noticed any were missing. There was still plenty to see. I was very impressed by several new types of ground vehicles I hadn't seen before. The wreckers were very interesting.

Always nice to see the P-61 making steady progress.

A question on the C-47/DC3. Was that small crew door I see on some pictures behind the the left side of the cockpit near the left engine strictly for the DC3 or did some C-47 models have them also?

I was only there on Sunday and the weather and crowds were just about perfect. I would say the number of flying aircraft were down a little bit from years past. B-25 (Panchito), TBM (Doris Mae), C-54 (Spirit of Freedom), C47 (Hairless Joe) were no shows. Diamond Lil had engine problems and didn't fly, but did leave on Monday. I'm not sure if the Mid Atlantic air museum flies their TBM, but no TBM's flew. The CAF put on a good show and Red Nose was flying all the time, including Saturday night when I got there and the weather was a little questionable. The Beach City Baby crew were awesome and so was the plane.
The one thing that did saddened me was they had a picture of the Black Widow from 1991 and then another picture of it 25 years later in 2016. The 2016 picture looked like it could have been taken yesterday...

Panchito and Hairless Joe must have left early, they were there on Saturday giving rides.
