Does Jerry Yagen own a P-38 Project??

Mon Feb 20, 2023 1:34 pm

I was watching an old video today of the late Murry Griffith and some others going to New Gunieu to look for a P-38 project for Jerry Yagen. They found a candidate for Jerry Yagen. Does anyone know if Jerry Yagen does indeed have this P-38 project under restoration? I know that Murry Griffith passed away, and I can't find anything else about it. By chance does this wreckage belong to Rober Greinert? I know he has at least 3 P-38's under restoration at this time. Thanks in advance as always.

Issue 122 of Classic Wings magazine has a feature on Rob Greinert's P-38 projects and there's no mention of Jerry.

I can't find any IDs with his name attached in Geoff Goodall's Warbirds Directory either.

Justin Taylan's "Pacific Wrecks" site reports that Gerald Yagen owns/owned the remains of P-38G, 42-12847.

Perhaps.

The following link suggests that Mr. Yagen was also connected to P-38H, 42-66905, at some point in the past.

Notes at the bottom of the link suggest (perhaps) that at a later point in time Mr. Greinert clarified that Mr. Yagen was not linked to these Lightnings. pop2

Justin's information is wrong or at least out of date. "Dumbo" is owned by Pima and has been under restoration for them for years. Yagan may have had an interest in it but he never owned it, as far as I know.
