Sweet! Click and oh, there's some 531st FS P-51's on Iwo...one wrecked and another taxing by. Definitely have to check these out, a few I have seen before it looks like, but many to go through! Thanks.

In these two clips I found on that site there are armourers wrapping .50 cal belts around bombs. Was this a common practice? And was this to make the bomb more deadly to personnel on the ground with the rounds supposedly firing off in all directions as the bomb exploded?

Kind of a cluster bomb, but I can't imagine it added that much more of an effect to the bomb blast itself.
