P-38s in the southeast?

Fri Jul 16, 2004 7:20 am

All -

I've got a class of student fighter pilots that wants to have their class photo taken with a P-38 some time within the next month. The only ones that seem to be close to where we are in South Georgia are at the Tom Riley and Kermit Weeks facilities in central Florida. Unfortunately, according to what I'm reading on the net, both of those are derelicts. Are any of the restored P-38s going to be making their way south during the summer airshow season?

Any ideas, Lightning fans??

I suppose there's a chance the Planes of Fame P-38 "Porky II" might be coming through that part of the country on tour. I'm not up on the facts for this year though. Mint Moore, Steve Hinton, or anyone at POF for that matter would be the folks to ask.
