Forgotten Props: New section. Condolidate PB2Y Coronado

I've add the Condolidate PB2Y Coronado to the Forgotten weapons site. I've gone through the WIX archives and added every identifiable airframe image I have.

Forgotten is an understatement.
I'd wager many WIXers haven't heard of it. :D
Not that many were built and it didn't make many headlines, though one was used as the personal plane for CINCPAC, Admiral Nimitz.

I play "Squadron Scramble" with my kids... so yes we do know that airframe!

I have a soft spot for the Coronado.

Does any one have any insight on the "combat use" of the Coronado, or recommend any sites or books that would cover that aspect of the Coronado? Wiki says they were used on a few bombing raids, including on Wake Island- would like to learn more about their patrol/bombing use, rather than their transport role.

I believe that the one at the Navy museum at Pensacola was Adm. Nimitz' personal transport.
They were also used as transports on the North Atlantic run during the buildup to D-Day... I have a xerox of a magazine article that tells that story (somewhere).
