Hopefully the owner can source another fuselage, if he decides to restore it. The Registry lists 44-28938/N7946C as having had an 18,000 hour restoration the last time.

The important parts are still (mostly) intact: the guys inside. With enough cash, everything can be rebuilt. But with the gear and engines ripped off as well as the fuselage crumpled, who is going to rebuild a B-25 from this state?

Numerous social media sites, including one of a person who was involved in this accident, verified that Taigh was one of the pilots on board. So sad to hear, and I wish Taigh a speedy recovery - both mentally and physically.

I would agree that the crash is a total loss. Look at that crumpled, twisted fuselage. It is shot and unusable. I would guess that this would be a "parts only" airplane. The cost to rebuild that would be many times over the value of the aircraft. The same thing happened to the French B-25 that put down in a field a few years ago while on fire. The cost to restore far outweighed the current value. That is the reason that the French owner decided to put that wreckage in storage for many years until the value catches up with the cost of restoration. I think the same could happen here.

I would love to see a larger overhead view. The reports I've seen mention a drainage ditch, which would certainly do that kind of damage to the gear/airframe. But without a picture, who knows.

Includes a picture of the irrigation ditch they hit. He said the gear appears up, but the picture seems to show pretty big impacts that would about line up with the MLG tires.

Sounds like they ran it out of fuel. A true shame because they were on the ground in Vacaville just 20 minutes prior.
