Fw190's in Italy

Sun Apr 19, 2020 1:07 pm

Simple question for for those involved in Luftwaffe units - what Gruppe flew the Fw190 over Italy, November 1943 ~ February 1944.

Reason for asking is for the 15th AF book, seeing a lot of claims for Fw190's shot down, yet the Luftwaffe records for this time period only show Bf109G's being engaged in combat (as well as lost, damaged accidents) while over the Italian theatre

For the time frame you requested, it appears only Schlachtgeschwader 4 would have been based in Italy, flying a mix of Fw 190F/G.

Stab/SG4: At Piacenza from 10/43 - 1/44; Viterbo from 1/44 - 5/44

I Gruppe/SG4: At Piacenza from 10/43 - 1/44; Viterbo from 1/44 - 3/44

II Gruppe/SG4: At Viterbo from 10/43 - 5/44
