This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Thank you for posting these, Dan. It's great to see something new/different/unique among the FG-1D population, and I love the Naval Reserve markings.
Here is another photo, as shared on the Naval Air Station Glenview Museum FB page last year:

I absolutely love the markings. Very fitting given the location of Warbird Heritage Foundation.
Really looking forward to seeing this once completed.

Cannot believe it!!!!

Just a simple amount of yellow paint over a faded Navy Blue. Not even a Star & Bar to screw up. And "they" couldn't even get that right.
lol ... seriously it looks fantastic!!

What a beauty! I saw this old girl in the museum in Colorado about 15 years ago and secretly wished to myself that one day it would be returned to stock condition. The results are well beyond any expectations that I had and it is going to be a flyer to boot! Kudos to the crew at WHF for a fantastic job. Now if we could just have a -5 Hellcat finished in a similar scheme...

Nice! Air Guard and Reserve units don't seem to get enough love in the Warbird world. Many of their markings were very interesting and colorful. The service that the "weekend warriors" (said with genuine respect) have always provided to We The People is immeasurable, and it's a story that really should be told more often.

Oh yay, another civilian warbird air racer turned into a blue Corsair.

In many cases I might agree Lon but this airplane was barely a blip on the air racing scene and on top of that it was just sorta ugly. Much prefer this one the way it is now. My .02 cents only of course.

I'm willing to bet a case of TP, that that was totally sarcastic!! Pretty funny actually...

I apologize if Lon's sarcasm eluded me, my bad.
