Landings light question....

Sun Aug 11, 2019 12:35 pm

Anyone have or know of a source for data on Grimes landings lights? The AT calls out a particular Grimes unit, something like a D-4000, but I can't seem to find any info on it, or what alternates there may be. I tried sending an email to tech support at Grimes last year and never heard anything back from them.

Grimes is owned by Honeywell now if that matters.

What diameter and what does it fit?

Are you talking the lamp itself or the lamp assembly?

B: Entire assembly, mount and drive combined, for the AT-21. For the L-5, it's an AN3095-x, and calls out another number as part of that in the book. For the Fairchild, it gives me a Grimes number and that's all...something like a Grimes G-xxxx. I did find a Brit book on the AN3095, but it's not a ton of help.

Use MIL-L-81174/4A

Does any of this help?

bdk, I had not seen those AN3095 drawings before. Pretty cool.

From some pics I have seen:

AN3095-1 is a Grimes G-3100 12V
AN3095-3 is a Grimes G-3001 28V
AN3095-7 is a Grimes D-3040E 28V
AN3095-9 is a Grimes G-3001A 28V

That's all I can offer.

I need to go dig in the books a little bit to see, but it’s probably enough info to back into what I need. The electrical table only gives a Grimes number for the light assembly and no AN or AAC spec number. Finding out specifications from some of these numbers, such as AAC 42-23109 can be a challenge when all you have is the spec number, a partial description and if you’re lucky, a vendor name.

Will dig on this, but will be a few days before I can do so. Got to some stuff to get two of the cars inspected and new tags this week, and I don’t do 100F+ in the direct sun for long anymore.
