This one was a real labor-of-love which I researched off and on for four years culminating with a trip to San Francisco to secure copies of and permission to use photos of the pilots. I’ll never be as prolific a writer as Stephan Wilkinson or Walter Boyne but, it’s a honor to be in their company.
