Rarest restorations currently underway?

Fri Dec 14, 2018 3:11 pm

What are the rarest restorations currently underway?  The Bell P-89 and XP-82 are obviously two of them, but what are some of the others?

The Mid Atlantic Air Museum's P-61B

It is literally the only P-61B left on the planet.

There aren't many P-61s in museums or preserved anywhere but they're all C models

Isn't Kermit Weeks restoring a Tempest? That would be a rare one.

He was, but the main engineer retired so it was boxed up.

In the same vein, the Hawker Typhoon? One is in a museum, two are being restored to fly.

The UK effort to restore a Typhoon to fly.
It will be extra challenging due to its engine of which few survive and none run..let alone fly.

Hi all,

Isn't there two TU-2's being restored with Aero Enterprises? I admit last info was 2013.

Martin B-26B Marauder “Flak-Bait”
THE most original, as it was, nearly completely intact WW2 aircraft anywhere.
And being carefully and properly worked with this very much in mind.

I wouldn't call this one of the rarest restorations in the world considering two are owned and operated by TFC at Duxford.

I would say the Ju-87 with FHCAM.
