Paging Steve Birdsall: Skyraider

Sat Sep 22, 2018 9:23 am

Steve,

Many of us are familiar with the mission you flew in an A-1E in Vietnam and the book that followed. Do you have any other recollections or previously unpublished photos to share (either with the group or the A-1 Skyraider Association)?

Would love to see/hear anything you're willing to share.

Ken

Must have missed this the first time. Anyway, I’m afraid I can’t be much help.

After the Arco book was published I sent a lot of Skyraider material to the Air Force Museum - they were very keen to have that photo of the retrieval of Bernie Fisher’s A-1E that I’d found at Pleiku and I felt obliged to give it to them. In the end they decided to only keep things directly-related to the USAF and sent most of the material to the Naval Aviation Museum. As I recall it was Chuck Worman who organized that.

I also sent some stuff to Byron Hukee but I don’t think he ever got around to adding it to his website.
