I am almost certain these are all from a member of the 57th FG; I recall seeing a couple of similar aircraft in one of Ethell's books. These are absolutely AMAZING, Mark- and the action shot of the P-40E sliding down the runway is jaw-dropping. He||, *ALL* of them are jaw-dropping!

BOOM. The sliding P-40 tips us off... per Aviation Archaeology, P-40E 40-428 had a landing accident at Bradley Field, Windsor Locks, CT while being flown by Alexander C. Ferguson of the 66th PS, 57th PG on 24 May 1942. (The image is scanned in backwards)

LOVE that P-35! (Per Baugher, 36-401 was w/o Apr 22, 1942 at Foster Field, TX; AAIR lists it as bailout-midair collision although I couldn't find the other a/c it hit listed)

Not only great shots of the aircraft, but great shots of the guys too.
Interesting to see their uniforms...a bit f a change from the ETO stereotypical A-2s and 50 mission crush caps.

Being a non combat unit, I would guess uniform/haircut regs were enforced a bit more than overseas.

Nice shots of tents and vehicles too.
Those cement hangars are probably still around.

In the photo with the trucks, in the background there s a permanent hangar, alongside of which is a silver aircraft. BT-13?

Wonder what happened to the pilots...If any went into combat and their ultimate fate.

It shows some of the pilots in the desert wearing British Battle Dress uniforms. That matches the uniform I have of a 79th FG P40 pilot from that time. It was fun to see examples in color
