Unknown B-17 at Combat Aviation Museum, Topeka KS (1970s)

Sun Nov 13, 2016 8:37 pm

I paid a visit to the Combat Aviation Museum in Topeka, KS over the weekend. Was perusing pictures on the wall and saw the below photos. I think the B-24 is Dave Tallichet's old bird, but could not ID the B-17G. I suppose it could be the Movie Memphis Belle, but have never seen her in this scheme. Photos look like they were taken in the mid-late 1970s when the museum was stood-up and operated as a wing of Yesterday's Air Force (YAF).

If I was to venture a guess, I'd say it is Dave Tallichet's other B-17 which was on loan from the USAFM. N47780 44-83663 now on display at Hill AFB in UT.
