This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

A guy I work with who I only see once a week, told me something yesterday that shocked me. He surprised me as he told me he was a diver in the Navy and told me he dove on a bunch(mountain as he called it) of aircraft wreckage from Dec 7th that was dumped off Barbers Point afterwards! My mouth hit the floor. I told him that its been unconfirmed in the airplane world for years. He said no one is allowed to take pictures and the area is restricted.
Just wow..........just imagine what might be down there?

Don't know what tell you about your friend's story, but one can still hope such stories are true. Time to go take a swim in Hawaii I'd say.
In the meantime Nathan, just because this is your area of passion, no better a thread to post a few "before December 7th, 2016's" remember PH thread" photos.
Here's a few very rare photos from a batch of more very rare photos. I'm sure you know what these photos are about

Of all the wreckage reports that surface from time to time, I would tend to give this on a bit more credence. The reason is that there is still a lot of wreckage from the U.S.S. Arizona on the outskirts of Pearl Harbor. It is very slowly rusting away to nothing, and my understanding that it is at the base commander's whim whether a museum or any other party can retrieve a piece of the wreckage.

Mark Allen M, what is the info about the wreck photos that you posted?
The wreckage looks to be a Japanese Zero.

I don't believe it. I've been there, dove there.
There are some crashed planes just off shore Barbers Pt. but they would not have dumped Dec 7th plane wreckage there. I have photos that show they salvaged and scrapped the wrecked planes after the attack. They needed the scrap metal for the war effort. Furthermore the Navy did dump all kinds of stuff off ships before they entered Pearl Harbor so they would not need to off load the stuff. There were designated dumping areas. The areas are now being surveyed by NOAA and U of H. That is how they found one of the Japanese mini subs in the area outside the harbor.
