Yeager in Europe (Norway) between 1955-58..?

Sat Jan 07, 2006 5:18 pm

Hi!

I am doing a little research on a story my father has told me numerous times about an airshow at Gardermoen Airbase, Norway.
This most likely happened between 1955 and 1958.
He recalls a demonstration given by Chuck Yeager, flying supersonic at high altitude. My father is not an aviation fanatic, and therefore does not recall what type of aircraft that was used.
However I have traced some information that it might have been the F-100 Super Sabre (and my father thinks it looks familiar), as two such machines visited Norway and Gardermoen sometime during the late 50's.

As I have not been able to find out more, I would like to get in touch with someone that can shed more light on this story and maybe confirm some of the information above.
(I have visited Chuck Yeagers homepage, but I understand that he does not respond to such enquiries)
