TAM Museum in Brazil Closed

Wed Jun 29, 2016 2:42 pm

I was just reading in the current Air Classics that the museum in Brazil that has a lot of Warbirds like the Bird Cage Corsair and a Spit Mk IX to name a few that were given to the museum as bribes by RR and PW so that the airlines down there would buy engines from them is closed now. Hopefully they all will find there way back to "Texas" and the rest of the U S of A... 8)

It would be great to see some of those planes [again]. I'd love to see the S.55.

I haven't heard the bribery accusation before. Any published details on that?

It would nice to see them come home to the U.S. and that third world country Texas! ;)
Either would be okay with me!

And though I don't live there, Massachusetts is a commonwealth. So that would be okay too! :)

Wow! I bet there are a lot of organizations and individuals that are winging their hands over this closure and the possibility of getting these aircraft.

They have a beautifully restored Connie. I wonder what its fate will be. :(

There's a list on Wikipedia:

Looks like they could depress the O-1 market even more

Or maybe the Spit and the Miles could return to good old Blightey. :D

It would be nice to see the Birdcage Corsair flying again. While I never saw it in person, it had a healthy flying career here in New Zealand before going to Brazil.

A massive shame if what looks like a great facility and collection is closing.
A loss if the collection is broken up and distributed to places that might already have many warbirds.
