Russian Air Force Museum review

Mon May 09, 2016 12:15 am

DUAN has completed a Schifferbooks book review of the publication - Russian Air Force Museum at Monino near Moscow. See review at https://downunderaviationnews.wordpress ... at-monino/

Does anyone know if this book is to be revised.. as i hear the museum is maybe closing in July and moving to Kubinka or is it the other base units moving?

I have been to both Monino and Kubinka. Kubinka is where the tank museum - probably most comprehensive in the world - is located, everything indoors and well done. Monino has very little indoors and one has to wonder about the maintenance - or more likely, lack of maintenance - issues with the high snowfall and cold temperatures of that region.

Kubinka strikes as better location but how the aircraft would be moved there is a real issue. Some would likely be scrapped in place?
