Warbirds Over the Beach, Bf-109??

Mon Apr 18, 2016 3:24 pm

The Military Aviation Museum's annual airshow is next month (May 20 -22), anyone know if they will have the Bf-109 there and ready to fly?

She hasn't flown yet; probably in the next few days. No word yet on special visitors, although the CWH is known to occasionally put in an appearance.

From MAM's chief pilot today "If you are east coast based and want to see an amazing group of Warbirds fly, come see us ...
Mossie, Mustang, Corsair, Mitchell, FW190, Spit, Hurricane, Yak, Warhawk, Dakota, SBD, JU-52 , Avenger, ME 262, PO-2, Wildcat, whew ... lots more. Did I mention a brand new restoration of a BF-109G?
Seriously, come see us make some noise !"

I don't believe the CWH will be sending anything this year. CAF Dixie Wing are scheduled to have the P-51 Red Nose and Dauntless available for rides.

Dauntless cancelled.

Yeah, the SBD is in need of engine work, so that's not a surprise. Unfortunate, but understandable.

Hope ya'll had better weather than over here in Lynchburg :| Would love to see the organizers of the show here plan a little differently and have our show on a different weekend than yours, in order to bring some of your planes over for our little show. All of the rain has made for a very muddy mess here, but the crowds have come out. Hoping for better weather today here and that you there in Va Beach had/have good flying weather as well :D

I saw some video and photos of the 109 flying over the weekend NZ time, I hope the weather held out! :supz:

Anyone go?

I am local, but passed this year as weather looked iffy, I had some conflicts and I doubted the 109 was going to fly. Saturday was raining most of the day, but I watched a bit of their webcam on Sunday and it looked like the Skyraider, Corsair, Wildcat, P-51, and Hurricane took off, or at least did a fast taxi. (all I could see from the fixed webcam). Looks like the 190 stayed on the ground. I imagine wet grass and drizzle would not be the time to debut the freshly restored 109 :o
