Kind of a "weak" April Fools joke since the XP-82 Twin Mustang is probably actually not too far from a first flight.

Better would have been one about the P-61.....

:)

I was part of a tour at C&P Aviation back in November, along with some other guys from the CAF MN Wing, and although not completely bolted together, the airframe itself is very near complete, including both outer wing sections, cowls, etc. (the largest sheet metal tasks remaining were in the process of being done at the time we were there - those being the radiator intake scoops and landing gear spade doors (which they were also making sets to send to Reilly). With the C&P Twin Mustang, the biggest remaining factor is just the engines, which are being overhauled in-house (these being the super-rare, and powerful G6 Allisons, of which they have enough to build/overhaul four engines - two lefts and two rights). When asked about time-scale/when it may be expected to fly, it sounded like potentially 2017 at the earliest. This year marks 16 years since C&P began restoring it. There are some other really interesting projects also being undertaken by and for C&P at this time, and others waiting in the wings.

Tks John.

Not a lot of recent pictures of it floating around.

Should be interesting.....
