Curtiss SB2C-3 Helldiver at Yanks

Mon Mar 28, 2016 12:15 pm

I was just thumbing through the register and looking at the SB2Cs tonight and got to wondering if anyone knows or has any pictures of how complete this airplane was when it was rescued off the Fox back lot by Ed Maloney back in the '60's?

I Visited that museum in 1980 and again in 2015. The Helldiver, Corsair, CG-4 , and R-4 Hoverfly hello are virtually unchanged in 35 years. They are being restored to airworthy but waiting on acquiring airworthy parts. The mission of the museum is to restore to airworthy, but not fly, and display their aircraft.
At this time the museum needs to change its mission statement. It needs to finish to display condition these treasures with the "appearance" of airworthy status. The four tee asures mentioned, plus the P-80 jet forgotten in outside storage need to be finished and moved out of the non-restoration workshop hangar.

Here's an image I took of Yanks SB2C in March of 2014.
