Interesting to see the ANG pilot and crew chief names still on this one (note 'N' suffix in Tech Data Block): anyone have any previous history on this one?

These are Costa Rican P-51s, not Nicaraguan. These carry the earlier Costa Rican markings.

There have been repeated assertions that at least one of the Costa Rican F-51Ds, (formerly USAF 44-73195, 44-73339, 45-11386 and 44-74978), which were hastily marked as simply “1, 2, 3 and 4” after arrival by the Costa Ricans, was shot down in aerial combat with the F-47N on January 19th.

Thanks for the clarification. The Life Archives simply had them cataloged Nicaragua-Costa Rica

Costa Rica received 4 F-51Ds that were employed in a brief conflict against Nicaragua.
