Are you talking about the fuselage insignia? It may be painted so far aft because some of the early Marauders had the serial number painted on the fuselage ahead of the insignia.

Marauders frequently had the fuselage star insignia dislplayed very far back on the fuselage. I always presumed this was due to the location of the wing, horizontal stabilizers and waste guns.
