I assume a great deal od the details are pending at this time, but I really wonder:
* What paint scheme/nose art will be used?
* Will this B-17 will be flying with '909' or will be mostly rotated in/out of the tour with that Fort?

Seems I read that "Shady Lady" will be made "tour ready" (taking a couple of years) then would go on tour and 909 would be taken out and gone over thoroughly.

There is a paint scheme planned that will be very original and accurate. I am not at liberty to divulge that...gotta be some mystery involved. The plan is to have it ready for the 2017 season and bringing 909 in for a major restoration.

Hey Jim. Do you think they will keep 909 as such. I hope so!

I believe 909 will remain 909...it has quite the history in this scheme. @Scott, the plan is to make it airworthy and roadworthy. Anything outside of components necessary for operation are not a priority at this point. It will eventually be brought up to the standard of 909. We all know 909 needs paint and a few other cosmetic fixes but she is still one of the best B-17 airframes out there. She has served us well since the mid 80's.

Awesome news, 909 is a stalwart, glad to hear she'll be getting some well deserved TLC. I am looking forward to seeing a new B-17 on the circuit... Not to mention the other goodies that Collings has acquired recently.

Personally I'd be hard-pressed to think of a worse scheme to paint it in

Any aircraft they're trying to sell rides in, and then give the impression that it might be cobbled together from bits of other aircraft, is a really, really bad idea in my view.

I'm not going to suggest a paint scheme as it won't mean anything in regard to what really happens. We all have a B-17 we'd love to see re-created at airshows.
I just hope that 909 stays in that scheme in the future, as a huge 91st BG fan and life member of the 91st BG Association...

I agree fully with this.
