What’s the word on Diamond Lil.
She wasn’t at OSH, heard she was getting major maintenance done in Dallas.
Thanks,
Phil

Lil is currently at Dallas Execute Airport, which is the home of the CAF's new "Airbase Texas", and will eventually be home for the B-24/B-29 Squadron (currently based with us at VFM). She will be down for about a year for heavy maintenance and some restoration work. I recall hearing that they were going to change an engine as part of this effort.

I believe at one time Gary had hoped to re-route the control cables to enable the top gun mount to be reconstructed, as well as change the hydraulics to permit restoration of the flight engineer position. Longer term there was hope to install bomb bay doors. Is there still intent to do these things someday? Lots of work/expense, obviously.

Lil is down for some much needed TLC.
She is also at Dallas to be an anchor for the new HQ for the CAF. The runways are being reworked at Dallas and will be partially closed for the next year.
