Many thanks, you just cant beat a Sea Fury, four blades and P & W up front or not. I was at the Southend Museum auction when 288 was sold, nice to see her still active.

Yes.

3350 I think.

The announcer said it was a Centaurus, so I went and had a look at the Sea Fury and the Skyraiders either side. The engines looked identical from what I could see looking in the front of the cowlings

The Centaurus has a 5 blade prop and the 3350 a 4 blade plus the Cent turns opposite of the 3350. The Cent does sound like an engine with a attitude...

It is a 3350. The only Fury currently flying with a 2800 power plant is Argonaut, with the Sanders presently building up another 2-seater 2800-powered Fury at Ione.

Thanks again for posting the pictures, looks good in the air, is that a Skyraider tail wheel its sporting? At least the cowl profile looks more like the Sea Fury. I'd love to know how one can get hold of one of those white shirts that the pilot was wearing with the Sea Fury motif!

By way of a return and thanks for posting the shots of WJ288, I thought you guys might like the following shots. These are the two French based Furies both Wright powered that flew on the Friday before Duxford's Flying Legends. Glad I went as due to issues they didn't fly together again!

Incorrect, both are powered by dirty three filthy's :P . I know for certain 369 is as I used to work for the Ezell's and I believe it was the first 3350 conversion after it had a belly landing while Centaurus powered way back when.
Nice photo's BTW ! :drink3:

Doc Peelers(ahem; CAF) Sea Fury was the first ever Sea Fury I worked on when I started working for Ezell's, It was ground looped and quit a bit of belly skin was replaced plus both gear trunnions, what fun!!

Wasn't it George Baker who first advocated the 3350 mod with his "Sky Fury"?
