Did this airplane fly last year? There was a restoration thread going. Then I was absent from the board for a few months and now I see no mention...

I loved this airplane from the first time we met. It was around quite a bit in the 1970s.

Steve Hinton's very first race was in this airplane.

Pictures 1, 2, 4 are when it was owned by the Whittington Bros, and are from the Miami Air Races. Pictures 3 and 5 are from Reno when Jack Flahrety owned it.

No, three is 1978. The Whittingtons had just bought the airplane from Flaherty.

So what is the status of this unique airplane now?

I thought this was the aircraft which crashed in the UK, but I now question that. I do recall that machine being an ex-racer. Anyone?

No, that one was the ex-Sandberg ex-Tipsy Miss. This one was being carefully and extensively restored by one of the CAF chapters. I was looking forward to having one of my all time favourite Warbirds back in the scene. Last I remember it was pretty close to flying. So what happened with the P-63F??

It has been restored to flying by CAF Central Texas Wing, but it was released to a private owner 2~3 months ago.
