More '70s photos from Woodsy Airfield: F9F-8P 141692

Mon Apr 27, 2015 6:22 am

The first four photos were taken in Burlington, NC, December 5, 1975 by Claude Sheaffer; the color shot was taken by Leon Cleaver on April 22, 1976. The plane, F9F-8P 141692, was formerly with VFP-62:

This plane also appeared on page 12 of the April 1976 Air Classics. The original caption mentioned that it was at the Alamance County firefighting practice area in Burlington, and had apparently had previously been in a playground. The department did not plan to burn the airframe, but put several fuel drums around it to simulate aircraft fires. Does anyone know the final disposition of this Cougar? (I'm assuming beer cans...? :( )
