Was in va hospital with a guy who flew as eng on 24s out Italy and said they R2800 now I know that's not right net not much help so what were they. And talking about 24s anything on Scott Royce

B-24s had Pratt & Whitney R-1830, 1200 HP

B-24's used P&W R-1830 14-cylinder twin-row radials.

PW made 7 cyc radials that's a new one on me thought it was always 9 cyc on PW. Anything on Scott Royce Jr.

I don't think P&W ever did make a 7 cylinder engine. They made a couple of 9 cylinder engines and a couple of 14 cylinder engines and several 18 cylinder engines.

The 14-cylinder radials were two-rows of seven each. As mentioned, no P & W radial was a single-row seven. The following P & W radials were 14-cylinders:
- R-1535; "Twin Wasp, Jr." - built in modest volumes. Hughes H-1 racer is a notable user of this engine.
- R-1830; "Twin Wasp" - mass-produced, used in many aircraft including the B-24 & C-47.
- R-2000; also marketed as the "Twin Wasp" - enlarged version, designed specifically for the DC-4/C-54. Mass-produced.
- R-2180; known both as "Twin Hornet" and "Twin Wasp." Few built. SAAB Scandia airliner used this engine.
The R-4360 had four rows of seven. "Wasp Major" used in many large and/or high-performance aircraft such as B-50 and C-124.

My favourite use of the R-2000 was in the DHC Caribou.
Retired from the RAAF as recently as 2009.

Some C-47's had R-2000 engines fitted as well.
