P-38 off England

Tue Apr 07, 2015 2:51 pm

Whats the latest with the P-38 found in shallow water off England a few years back? Given its close proximity to shore I thought it would be a relative easy recovery.

Geography lesson for Americans:

England and Wales are separate Countries, both are part of the United Kingdom.

Just as:

Texas and California are separate States, both are part of the United States.

Interesting that it is now buried again. I am a little surprised that no one recovered it. I mean look at the lengths that they went to just getting to "glacier girl". comparatively this one is in your backyard. Is recovery an issue with goverment red tape involved?

The last I heard is that the interested parties were awaiting permits and trying to raise funds necessary to salvage it. Of course this was about 3-4 years ago or so.

Word was that TIGHAR had the salvage licence but took no action to recover it...

Maybe they couldn't devote any time to it while "fundraising" for their other quest!

It will turn to dust a week after recovery so I imagine it will stay right where it is it will last longer that way lol.
