T-33 Cincinnati OH, Evendale Playground 1960's

Longshot here but the WIX crowd does amaze me, so here goes. When I was a little kid I used to crawl around on what I later came to believe was a T-33. It was on the grounds of the Evendale Rec Center, near the swimming pool and right where a baseball diamond is now. I NEVER didn't crane my neck to stare at it the entire time we'd drive by on Glendale-Milford. I believe it was gone by 1972. I sure would like to know if it survived (doubt that) and if there are any photos. I figured after all these years of lurkering I'd have come up with some scrap of info by now, but no. Help a brother out. It's crazy but I STILL glance over in that direction looking for it when I drive by TODAY. Clearly I am not well.

Courier - Not much help - but according to Leslie Hunt's Veteran And Vintage Aircraft, 1974 issue, the only aircraft at Evendale were not a T-33. Quoting the info: Evandale Community Centre - Republic F-84C 51-1225 and NA F-86D/L 53-1060 reported - confirmation wanted. Also listed under Sharonville: General Electric Plant NA F-86D Sabre, serial and confirmation wanted. Maybe the info will lead you in a better direction...

The Yankee Air Force/Museum's F-86D/L, USAF 53-1060, was loaned to and/or acquired by General Electric in Evandale for engine testing during the early to mid 1960s. It was reportedly on static display in Evandale sometime during the 1960s and '70s. The aircraft was acquired by William Hogan of Hamilton, OH and later donated to the Yankee Air Force during 1982 and was trucked to Willow Run Airport in Michigan that August.

You guys are pretty awesome. I was about to holler a big heywaitaminit, but then i remembered the F-84 was both straight and swept wing, right? this was STRAIGHT winged, almost 100% sure. Why I guess i mis-identified it as a T-33. I may have been a youngling but i know it was unswept. As for the F-86, I never knew about that. I was on the grounds of GE a couple of years ago and did get photos of their cool displays of jet engines. Don't know if anybody here would care to see those shots. I do remember back in the late 60's actually being able to hear the testing of those engines down at GE. I was on the other side of I-71, quite a distance away!

Ah, now I see the photo. So that's my playground F-84G eh, doing a RATO. Pretty neat. Way before I ever saw it of course. I'm going to hope there's an old pic of it in the family mess of millions of snaps. Thanks for the sleuthing!

Actually, more than RATO. The picture depicts the aircraft while it was participating in the ZELMAL (ZEro-length Launch & MAt Landing) test series. More information (and pictures of 1225) on the ZELMAL test series can be found here - http://www.airvectors.net/avzel.html

I don't see specific information, but it seems that 1225 was the one damaged in the first mat landing attempt and hence why it was made available as a display aircraft.

There is a local park here that still has the T-33 I used to play on back in the '70s.
